The ancient Japanese art of wrapping items in cloth.

It is an eco-friendly alternative to paper gift wrap and is reusable and truly unique.

PART FOUR - Made in the USA

Each and every Little Korboose product is proudly made in America!

Little Korboose - Made in the USA

Design, production, packaging, and shipping is all done from the Little Korboose home base in Cleveland, Ohio. In addition, April personally sources all our materials locally and around the USA. From our woven textiles to our zippers and tags, we are committed to offering a collection of products that are thoughtfully made and handcrafted from the highest quality materials possible.

Little Korboose - Made in the USA

Having a business headquartered in the USA is something April had always dreamt of.

"I was always interested in the origin of things. Where was it made? HOW did they make it? My hippie parents raised me to check the label on anything I was considering buying. If it was not made in the USA, we just simply did not buy it. I was taught about the importance of USA made and how conditions for workers outside of the country are so very different. This is something I was able to see first hand when I visited factories in Shenzhen and Guangzhou, Asia. USA made means quality, but it also means freedom."

  • LITTLE KORBOOSE x VACILANDO QUILTING CO.

Did you know it takes up to 200 years for textiles to break down? At Little Korboose, we are passionate about keeping our scraps out of landfills and are always finding new ways to repurpose and minimize waste.

Our recent collaboration with Vacilando Quilting Co. has transformed many of our scraps into a one of a kind quilt and we are thrilled with the final product!

Designed by LK and Vacilando Quilting Co., the quilt was then machine-pieced, hand-quilted and finished by hand in Vacilando's Airstream studio on the California coast!

PART THREE - Ruth + Our Refugee Program

April's decision to start her own business came from her passions around sustainability, human welfare, and a hope for a stronger US economy. When she decided to expand our sewing team this year, she looked at it as another opportunity to apply her passions and find a way to positively contribute to the world.

When she decided to expand our sewing team this year, she looked at it as another opportunity to apply her passions and find a way to positively contribute to the world.

    Little Korboose

Let's first rewind to when it all started...
It was 2008 when April started Little Korboose. At the time, she was making all of our prototypes by hand. She was limited in time, and the demand was becoming too much. April needed a well-seasoned sewist who was a self-starter with problem-solving skills to help develop new products.

    That's when April met Ruth!

"It was like a dream! Ruth owned her own alterations business for years and knew just about everything there is to know about sewing. Most importantly, she was passionate. Not just about sewing, but about making high quality, handcrafted items for customers. She was...ahem...IS perfect."

    LIttle Korboose

In the last 8 years as head sewist, Ruth has helped us develop numerous LK production processes and supports our environmental efforts by managing our textile scraps (ie: never throwing scraps in a landfill). She is irreplaceable!

    ---

At the beginning of this year, we decided to expand our sewing team while simultaneously continuing our efforts to support our community. We brought two refugees onto the LK sewing and production team right here in the USA! Sura and Amtul are HUMAN BEINGS that were forced to leave their own countries in order to escape harsh conditions and we were happy to take them under our wing.

Meet Sura! Seen here sewing our Handcrafted in America tag into one of our tapestries.

He was a tailor in Nepal before he had to leave his country and has a passion for sewing that is contagious. In a few years, Sura will be able to get his US citizenship, but he already acts like the proudest American we have ever met.

    Little Korboose

Meet Amtul! Here she is after proudly finishing production on a pillow from the LK Kid's line. (Her face cannot be pictured in order to protect her privacy.)

Although she does not call herself a formally trained sewist, the day we met her she was wearing an outfit she made from a silk material. It was beyond professional quality! She is a mother and strong woman. We are so proud to watch her sharpen her skills and gain independence as a woman in the US. An opportunity she was not given in Pakistan.

"Her voice grows a little louder, which I encourage, each time I talk with her."

    LIttle Korboose

"I can't quite describe how special it has been to work with this group of experts, both native and from afar, but I know the experience has changed me forever and I am once again, grateful."
